Q1: Please Choose Your Malwarebytes Product:

Antivirus Blocking System Restore

A system restore may fail on your system when antivirus software interferes with it. You will be required to uninstall your current antivirus software and try another one compatible with Windows 10. Some Windows built-in tools, such as MRT and SFC, can also help to counter the error.

Causes

  • Another piece of antivirus software is interfering with your computer.

Solution 1: Try Another Antivirus Solution

  • If your current antivirus program is interfering with your System restore, you should replace it on your Windows computer with a compatible antivirus solution.

Solution 2: Boot in Safe Mode

To boot in safe mode, follow these steps:

  1. Move to the Start button and select Settings.
  2. Under Settings, tap Update & Security.
  3. Then, click Recovery on the left side.
  4. Now, move to Advanced startup.
  5. Tap on "Restart Now."
  6. After that, choose to troubleshoot under Choose an Option.
  7. Now, tap "Advanced Options."
  8. Move to Startup Settings and tap Restart.
  9. When your computer restarts, you will see a list of options.
  10. Press 4 or F4 to bring your computer to Safe Mode.

Safe Mode lets your computer run with limited files and drivers. You can see Safe Mode at the corner of your screen.

Solution 3: Uninstall and Reinstall Your Antivirus Program

  • An uninstall, and reinstall of your Windows operating system frequently resolves the System Restore problem. Once you uninstall the antivirus software, download a new compatible program from its official website.

  1. First, tap "Allow an application to connect to a network."
  2. Then, click Browse to find the application.
  3. Now, select the application executable to add and then click Open.
