Antivirus Blocking System Restore


The system Restore process can be blocked if your antivirus is interfering with it. In order to fix this issue, you may need to uninstall the current antivirus and install a compatible one. Hence, disable a running antivirus on your computer. There are causes and solutions to fix this issue.

Causes

  1. Antivirus is restricting the system's restore.
  2. Lost or corrupted system files.
  3. Inadequate storage on C drive for system restore.

Solution 1: Uninstall Bitdefender (For Windows 10 & 11)

  1. Use an Uninstall tool to uninstall Bitdefender (e.g., Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, Bitdefender Internet Security, Bitdefender Total Security)
  2. Then, perform a system restore by following the steps. 
  3. Restart your system in Safe Mode. 
  4. Go to the Windows icon and type System Restore. Then, click on Create a Restore Point. 
  5. Then, tap the System Restore button. 
  6. Now click Next, follow the given steps, and reboot the system in normal mode. 
  7. Lastly, reinstall the Bitdefender antivirus software.

Solution 2: Boot your system

  1. Press the Windows and R keys to open the Run box. 
  2. In that box, type msconfig and press enter. 
  3. From the System Configuration, select the Boot tab. 
  4. Check the Safe Boot box and click OK and restart your system. 
  5. After That, run a system restore. 
  6. Once the process is complete, press the Windows and R keys together. 
  7. Type msconfig and press enter. 
  8. Then, uncheck the box corresponding to the Safe Boot tab and restart your computer.
