  1. Older version of antivirus: Usually, the installation error results due to a conflict with the previous version of the software. 
  2. Third-party antivirus: Other antiviruses may not be compatible with Bitdefender, and the installation issue may occur. 
  3. Conflicting programs: An installed older version of antivirus software may be causing the issue. 
  4. Inadequate storage: If your computer doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for installation, the software won’t be installed. 

Solution 1: Disable the Windows Defender Real-Time Protection 

  1. Go to the search bar, type Windows Security, and click on the appropriate result.
  2. Tap on Virus and Threat Protection.
  3. Scroll through under Virus and Threat Protection and click Manage Settings.
  4. Disable Real-time protection.
  5. Try to install Windows Defender again.

Solution 2: Unblock the Bitdefender Installer

  1. Confirm that you have the latest version of the Bitdefender installer. 
  2. Open the Bitdefender installation file and select Properties. 
  3. Then, go to the Advanced button and click the Unblock option. 
  4. After That, click on Apply and then click OK. 
  5. Again run the Bitdefender installer.

Solution 3: Repair Bitdefender Client

  1. Close Bitdefender if it’s open. 
  2. Hold Windows and R keys together to launch the Run box, type Control Panel, and hit enter. 
  3. Then, move to Programs > Programs and Features. 
  4. After That, pick Bitdefender from the programs list and tap the Uninstall button. 
  5. Go with the displayed instructions and choose Repair. 
  6. Again open Bitdefender and install the update.
