Q1: Please Choose Your Webroot Product:

Antivirus Blocking System Restore

A system Restore helps restore points while installing apps on your computer, Windows update, or drivers. However, sometimes your antivirus software or firewalls prevents you from performing a System Restore. In this case, you may need to temporarily disable it.

Causes

  1. Antivirus software may be preventing a system restore.
  2. A firewall prevents a system restoration.

Solutions: Shut Down the Webroot Software

To check whether the software is causing the issue, shut down the software and see if the issue reoccurs. Follow the steps to shut down the software.

  1. First, right-click on the Webroot icon.
  2. Then, click on Shutdown protection in the Menu.
  3. Next, click Yes.
  4. Again, click Yes when asked for confirmation to shut down the software.
  5. Type the CAPTCHA if it appears.

In case you don’t see an option to shut down Webroot:

  1. Go to Webroot.
  2. Tap on Advanced Settings.
  3. Now, select the Install Settings tab.
  4. Confirm that the box “Allow SecureAnywhere to be shut down manually” is checked.
  5. Check the box if it isn’t.
  6. Then, click on Save.
  7. Click Yes when you are asked to shut down Webroot.
  8. Type the CAPTCHA if prompted.
  9. Now, click on Continue.
  10. Lastly, click OK to apply changes.
  11. Repeat the procedure to shut down the software.

  1. Type rstrui.exe in the command prompt and hit enter.
  2. You will see a System Restore window.
  3. Then, tap on the System protection link
  4. After that, select C drive and tap on Configure.
  5. Next, enable the system protection by clicking on it.
  6. Lastly, tap Apply and then Ok.

A system restore on Windows helps you to restore the System to its original state. Sometimes you may need to disable System Restore to remove infected files from the Restore folder.
