Having trouble with your AVG Antivirus

System Restore is a recovery tool for Windows that lets you undo specific changes made to the operating System. Using this tool, you can return particular files and settings to their previous versions and settings, such as drivers, registry keys, installed programs, system files, and more. This tool is handy if you have updated a diver on your computer but it is causing problems. Restoring a driver to its previous version may fix the problem. Sometimes AVG antivirus can interfere with the System Restore process.

Solution 1: Boot in Safe Mode, then perform a System Restore

To boot your System in Safe Mode, you need to follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Click on the Windows Start Button and click on Settings.
2. Then, click on Update & Security option
3. Next, from the left panel, select Recovery.
4. From there, go to Advanced startup
5. Click Restart now.
6. Once your computer restarts, a list of options will show up. 
7. Among those options, choose F4 or 4 to start your computer in Safe Mode.
8. When your System is in safe Mode, click start.
9. On the search field box, type System Restore.
10. There, click System Restore point.
11. Next, click on the System Restore button.
12. Then click Next.
13. Select a restore point before you experience problems with your System.
14. Then Click Next, and Finish to wrap up the process.

Solution 2: Temporarily turn off AVG Antivirus

To resolve this issue, temporarily turn off AVG antivirus for some time. But if your System is connected to a network, the network’s policy may prevent you from disabling your antivirus and firewalls. Disconnect your computer from the web and then turn off AVG antivirus and firewalls. If that doesn’t work, uninstall the AVG antivirus from your computer and then perform the System Restore process. 

Solution 3: Run The Microsoft Malicious Removal Tool (MRt)

1. MRT is a Windows in-built tool. You can use it to fix the System Restore error. Follow the steps mentioned below:
2. Click on the Windows start button.
3. In the search box field, type MRT.
4. Right-click on MRT and press Run as administrator.
5. Click Yes to allow or give administrator permissions.
