Having trouble with your Avast Antivirus

The process to download and install the Avast antivirus on a device is straightforward. However, sometimes there are various faults that can prevent you from installing the application. Causes:

• The device is updated: You can face the problem while installing the Avast antivirus on your device if it is not updated.
• Using other antivirus software:  If your device already has any other antivirus application running on the device, then you can face some issues while installing Avast.

Solution 1. Run DISM and SFC Scan

1. First, press the Windows and S key at the same time to open the Windows Search screen. 
2. Go to the search bar and enter cmd and then select the option "Run as Administrator" from the results. (After that, the command prompt will open on the screen as administrator.)
3. When the command prompt window is opened, you need to type the "sfc/scannow" command and then press the enter key. 
4. After that, the SFC scan will start to run. This process can take up some time, so make sure not to interrupt the process. 
5. Once the SFC scan is complete, you need to run the DISM scan. 
6. To run the DISM scan, open the command prompt once again by following the earlier process. 
7. When the command prompt screen appears, you need to enter the command 'DISM/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth" command in the line there. 
8. Once you write the command, press the Enter button on your keyboard. 
9. Now, the DISM scan starts to run, and you have to wait at least 20 minutes or more to complete this process.

Solution 2. Turn off other antiviruses on your device

1. First of all, you need to open the Windows settings on your device. To do that, you need to press the Win+I shortcut keys simultaneously.
2. Next, from the various available options, click on "Update and Security."
3. When the next window is open on the screen, move to the 'Windows Defender' tab and then select the option Open Windows Defender Security Center.
4. After that, you are required to navigate to the Virus and Threat Protection and click on Virus and Threat Protection Settings. 
5. Once the Virus and Threat Protection Settings window shows up on the screen, then deselect the Real-Time protection radio button. 
6. Moreover, to turn off the other antivirus software, you need to go to the Control Panel. 
7. Afterward, click on the Programs and Features option. 
8. And Then, you will see a list of options; you need to go through the list to ensure there is no other antivirus software installed on your device. (If you find any other antivirus software installed there, then you need to click on it and choose the uninstall option.)

Solution 3. Do a Clean Boot of your PC

1. In order to perform the clean boot, first press the Windows and R key simultaneously on your keyboard. 
2. When the Windows Run dialog box appears on the screen, then type "msconfig" in its search section and press the Enter key. 
3. After that, the system configuration window is open. Then navigate to the Services tab and then select the box "Hide all Microsoft Services," and after that, click on the "Disable All" option. 
4. Next, go to the Startup tab and then click on the Open Task Manager link. 
5. Once you click on the link, you will access a list of startup apps; just right-click on the first option and select the Disable option. 
6. After that, you need to repeat the above process for the rest of the startup applications. 
7. When disabling all the startup applications, you have to close the Task Manager window. 
8. Now, head back to the system configuration window. 
9. After that, click on the Apply option and then click on the OK button. It will save all the changes you did on your device.

Solution 4. Stop the fast startup on the PC

1. Press the Windows and S buttons at the same time to disable fast startup. 
2. After that, the Windows Search box will open on the screen, and in its search bar, type the Power Settings and then select the Power & Sleep Settings option. 
3. Then choose the Additional Power Settings. 
4. In the next step, you are required to Choose "What the power button does," which is available in the left menu. 
5. And then, you have to select the option Change settings that are currently unavailable. 
6. From the inside of that, find the "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" and deselect it. 
7. Lastly, click on the Save Changes option.
